Services

Because our pets age much quicker than we do, we stress the importance of preventive care for your cat or dog during every stage of their lifetime.  At Oak Grove Animal Hospital, we offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Preventative Care: During your pets physical examination, we will ask you about your pet's current lifestyle, any changes in their diet and behavior, and make sure all required vaccinations are up to date.  We also encourage you to ask questions of us as well and express any concerns you may have about your pet.

Dentistry:  We promote dental hygiene offering regular dental check-ups and cleaning to help maintain the long term health of our pets.  Other services include dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery where required.

Surgical Services:  In our modern operating theatre we provide surgical care for pet injuries, spays, neuters, cat declaws and lump removal.  For those cases requiring more specialized care we have access to a range of highly qualified surgeons within our referral network.

Anesthesia: Advances in medical research has made anesthesia much safer, with constant monitoring before, during and after surgery that has minimized the risk of allergic reactions and potential side effects.  Using the latest pain management techniques we are able to minimize discomfort following surgery.

Diagnostic test laboratory: With in house diagnostic testing and access to an external testing laboratory, we can provide early detection of potential health problems likely to affect your pet.  Our doctors also have access to an extensive referral network of specialists and will work in partnership with you to determine the most effective treatment for your pet.

Radiology and Ultrasound Services:  We have on-site radiographic equipment and ultrasound to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders.

Microchip Identification: A microchip is the size of a grain of rice which is injected just under the skin at your pets shoulder area.  If your pet becomes lost any veterinary hospital or rescue shelter can use a scanner to detect the unique number encoded in the chip and then reunite pet and owner.

Pharmacy:  We stock a wide range of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry select veterinary diets, pet treats, Lupine collars, leashes and other accessories.

Flea and Tick Control Programs:  Our doctors recommend a consistent flea and tick control program. We will be happy to discuss the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Bathing:  Bathing services are available by appointment.  At this time we do not offer grooming services.

Pet Insurance:  This provides reimbursement coverage for your pet's eligible medical treatments, surgeries, lab fees, X-rays, prescriptions and more, so that you can make optimal healthcare decisions for your pet based on our veterinarian's recommendation, rather than on the cost of treatment. We do not endorse any one insurance company but strongly believe this is an investment all pet parents should consider for their pets.

Emergency Care: We offer emergency care Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm only.  During other hours please contact Triangle Emergency Veterinary Hospital or the Small Animal Emergency Service.
